Where is the Paris fabric district located?

Does anyone know the location (streets)? I'm especially interested in buttons. Thanks.

There are some large fabric stores in the Montmarte. Metro is Abesses. I was slightly disappointed when I visited several stores last May. With our dollar weak against the euro I found prices to be not great. That said, I found the perfect shade of green lining for about $3 for 3 meters . There is one store that is 5 stories and each floor has different venue: upholstery stuff on one floor, bridal/silks on another etc. I believe buttons, trim, and ribbon were all on one floor. There was not a soul who spoke English so when looking for buttons, I could only point to those on my jacket. All of these fabric stores are within a block of each other. A smaller one level place had gorgeous Italian pima cotton but again this was pricey. Several years ago I found a nice smaller shop on Rue de Ecoles that had nice and unusual buttons. Husband was right there with me and his patience in fabric stores wears thin quickly LOL.I am not the type who likes to be rushed selecting fabric and notions.

One issue is that much of the fabric district in the 2nd requires you to be a wholesaler to actually purchase. Thus, you can wonder the area near Grands Boulevard (line 9). It can be hit or miss with the stores.

Thanks to both of you. Jona - where is Grands Blvd. I just checked my map book & don't see it. Thanks.

Grands Boulevards is the Metro stop in the garment district...Most fabrics are sold in the above mentioned stores at the base of Sacré Couer. La Droguerie, 9 rue du Jour has thousands of buttons...and ribbons and yarn..closest metro..Les Halles..Street is right behind St Eustache
