Where do I buy a new Rick Steves book in Switzerland

This probably won't help, but his books are generally only available at specialty book shops in Europe. His target audience is the North American market.

Have you seen them in any speciality bookshops in Southern Germany or Switzerland? Thanks. I bought a different guide book, but it really isn't any good.

I haven't looked. When you live in Europe, the usefulness of his books is limited.

Some of the RS recommended hotels (or hotel equivalents) in Interlaken, Gimmelwald and Muerren have copies of current or older versions in their libraries for use by residents. I can't think of anywhere that you would likely find it in Bern. Have you tried the lost/found office of the bus company? Not many Bernese would need or want it. The good news is that this RS webpage has a list of places selling the books; the bad news is that Switzerland is not on the list. It looks like the nearest place may be Milan. In a different part of Europe we recently found that the travel bookshop on the main square in Bruges (almost next to the Quick restaurant) has a good select-ion of current RS books. A little more info .... I've looked in my version 4 of RS Switzerland and on page 84 he says that Stauffacher at Neuengasse 34 near the Hbf has an entire floor of English books and a "fine travel section". Maybe that's different from where you went? Good luck... Their website has several RS books.

...or just wander over to Gimmelwald or Mürren and you have a good chance of bumping into RS in person ;-)

I just saw this question. If it's not too late . . . Use the contact us link and ask the RS staff. Tell them which cities you will be in, they will give you a list of the stores that carry their books.
