in the 'paris 2009' book it mentions certain activities and shows are available in on certain days or "open daily in summer". we are going to be in paris may 23-27 and are scheduling our days, i would like to know specifically when childrens activities are available for luxembourg gardens, champs de mars park? is this summer?

I am just guessing but assume that Paris and France follows the western calender and that summer is roughly mid June to mid September or more roughly June, July, and August. Assume May is still Spring. I would google for the wed sites to obtain specific hours and events.

Summer is very short in Paris! It doesn't follow the calendar, it follows the temperature. Summer activities such as "Plage de Paris" and outdoor games and activities for kids are pretty much limited to July and August. The marionette theatre will be open in Luxembourg gardens in May and will be great for the kids in spite of having to wear jackets.
