we are staying in a Chateau for 4 days outside of Rennes, Any thoughts on what to see and do . Any great places to eat

From Rennes you can take a bus to some excellent places to visit: Saint-Malo, Dinan, and Mont St Michel. For transportation, check out: http://www.keolis-emeraude.com/en/

As mentioned, the coast is a must see. But there are also some worthwhile destinations more inland, especially Fougeres and Vitre with their chateaus. For a shorter stroll with lunch or dinner I'd recommend Dol-de-Bretagne. Not quite as touristy as St Malo or Dinan and the restaurants are great as well. We just went into a creperie at the market square and it was wonderful (can't remember the name).
