What's on in August?

We are leaving for Paris next Monday night, Aug.6 and will be there until the 14th. I am fully aware that August is vacation month for the French but...our wedding anniversary is 8/8 and we wanted to celebrate! We've been to Paris many times but not in August. Does anyone know if there are classical music concerts going on? Is there a way to find out what is happening that week? Also...I'm interested in walking tours on the subjects of classical music composers who spent time in Paris (eg. Mozart, Chopin, Copland) and Pere Lachaise. Any and all ideas are welcome...we've done all the usual tourist sites (and Vaux, and Versailles) and are ready for anything. We also just love wandering as well..
Thanks,
Joanna

Check St. Chapelle for small concerts. Enjoyed a brillant small group last summer. Purchased ticket the day of the event. Good luck & enjoy

Thanks Dwayne! I was hoping there would be something at that venue. Do you know if there's a listing of concerts somewhere or should I just walk by the church?

Pick up "Pariscope", a weekly digest-sized magazine at newsstands listing just about everything--movies, visual arts, special exhibitions in museums and all kinds of "Musique et Concerts Classique". It is in French, but was not too hard for this Anglophone to decipher. Sorted by date, and including ticket prices and nearby Metro stops for the venues. I found something good to listen to every night there in March. It cost 40 euro-cents then.

Not sure if you're into dancing, but it's something to do on those beautiful warm nights in Paris. During the summer there is open dancing along the banks of the Seine - tango, salsa, ballroom, waltz, etc. I believe it's on Quai St. Bernard (Just east of Ile St. Louis on left bank). I think some nights they even have lessons and then open dance late into the night. It's awfully romantic!

Dancing on the Seine! Sounds like a Woody Allen movie whose title I can't remember. Love it. Thanks for the idea.
Also, Chris, thanks for the suggestion. I wish it was on-line...or is it?
