What is a good Food/Attraction/Transport/ Hotel budget for a month around Spain for a family of 3 ( boy 9 years old ) in the summer ? We where thinking to go to France because we have family an friends there but I just saw Rick Steves dvd with Spain and wow ...we loved it ! We went to Barcelona 3 years ago and loved it so now we think to go around the country for a month .
What is a must see and what to skip in Spain ?
What is a good route starting and ending in Barcelona ?
Rent a car or travel by train ?
We like to visit castles/ mansions , some museums , churches, anything outdoors, kids attractions and just walk the streets .
We prefer to eat from grocery stores ( trying local food ) , tapas,soup/ pasta, pizza , gyro...
Pensions not hotels .
Thanks :)
With a month, and having already been to Barcelona, consider drawing a line from Zaragoza to Granada and not going southeast of it.
Andalucia would get not more than a week, Madrid three days, and the Toledo, Segovia, Avila loop about two.
The one food splurge would be in Segovia at Candido's.
The rest of the time would be given to the Basque provinces (with no nights spent in either Bilbao or San Sebastián), the Picos, La Coruna, and Extremadura.
With a car and a kid, $250 a day for everything is more than enough for everything. You'll want to stay in hostals (note spelling, different word).
Thank you for the info and suggestions :) .
