I am still working on my trip to France and was thinking of spending a night plus 2 days in Marseille.
I know a lot of people advoid this city. Some poeple have told me to advoid Naples in the past but I am glad I went it is one of my favourite cities.
I think Marseille must be rough around the edges like Naples but I think that might be interesting.
Any thoughts on this city? Is it work the effort?

I spent time in both Naples and Marseilles this summer, and I think you are right to compare them. They are both a bit "rougher" than other cities, but they have their own set of charms too. I actually really liked Marseilles, the food is great if you like seafood, and I went to Chateau d'If, which was an interesting day. Plus, Marseilles has a few beaches if you are going in nice weather.
My only advice would be to make sure that your hotel is in a safe area - I stayed in a hostel near the train station, and while the hostel itself was nice, the area was not.
Go, the old rap is now only partially applicable. Pick a good restaurant and enjoy. Be a bit careful where you stay.
