Wondering if anyone can tell me the area that Le Crosets is and would you need a car to stay in area. Looking for an area for a home base for one week in October. Another area that was suggested is Thun. What region would that be. Thank You

Les Crosets is a ski/outdoor sports resort area in the Valais area of Switzerland. I'm not sure when they get snow in the winter, but could be as early as October. It's a bit out of the way and not convenient as a base for sightseeing other areas. If you want a more centrally located area, the Berner Oberland area as mentioned in replies to your other post would be more convenient. Or Lucerne is a good base for exploring. I'm not sure about Thun as a base, you'll probably get other replies with information about that area.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I think we have decided on Wengen. Found a lovely rental and all of the feedback is very favorable for that area. I just posted about Le Crosets because I read an interesting post and thought I should check it out.

Thun is on the Thunersee in the Canton of Bern.

Les Crosets is in the Porte du Soleil area, a part of the Alps just South of the Lake of Geneva. It's a great skiing resort and is interconnected with places like Morzine, Avoriaz etc. What it's not is a traditional Alpine village for the summer. In summer and for hiking the Bernese Oberland (e.g.) South of the Lake of Thun would be more exciting...
