I live in Oklahoma where we know our weather forecasters by name and regular TV programming can be interrupted for hours for tornadic storms. What can I expect in Provence? Is there a weather channel? How predictable are the mistral winds -- do people get warned in advance that they are coming? I have checked weather.com and meteofrance.com but haven't seen that much on the winds, other than a nice explanation at the latter site about how the mistral is formed.

If there is a high pressure system over Northern France, Benelux and Germany, it's going to push wind south through the Rhone gorge and you're going to feel it. How cold it is, of course, depends on the time of year.
We get the same thing in Portland with our Gorge Winds.
