I was watching a morning show this week and there was a guest on who lived in London. The host said so...you are opposite us in the summer, it's your winter right now, so how cold is it ect, and how are you coping with the days with hardly any daylight. She said it had been an easy enough cold season there, but the darkness was starting to get to her. Now, London is right across the channel from Paris, I though Christmas in Paris was cold. How can the weather be that different two hours away. Geographically, London isn't that far away for that kind of change. I just totally don't understand the weather situation now.
Something's not right here. It most certainly is not winter in London right now. I'm seeing a predicted high temperature of 27° C (mid 70s F), and it's about the same where I live. Are you quite certain they weren't talking to someone in the southern hemisphere, like in Australia or New Zealand?
Was the Londoner in Australia?
No, they said London. It was a live show, just a few days ago. I thought it was impossible. And they definitely said London. I don't know what was up with that. I am ALMOST certain it wasn't a previously recorded show, I paid attention to the timing and topics. At any rate, just wanted to see if anyone could verify for me. Of course, I could've looked up the weather, duh! Didn't think of it. Thanks so much.
It was an American who was now living in London.
That's what I thought. Thanks for all the comments. Very helpful.
Are you sure it wasn't an Australian in London? There are a lot of Aussies here at the moment because there is a big event happening at the moment in the cricket world - called the Ashes (at which England despite dismal play in the last two fixtures have beaten the Aussies). Right now it is winter in Australia,
No, I've tried to figure it out, but haven't been able to. I can't remember who it was. It was an American actress. Anyway, could've been a fluke. She wasn't there for anything, said she was just living in London now. Glad to know it will be winter, I thought so, I was sure of it, but that there me. Thanks for the help.
Diane, COLD! Steve
Steven, thanks. YAY. I live in Houston. Need COLD!
I was in London last week. It is summer. It is generally warm. Winter is at the same time of year as it is in the States, as London is in the northern hemisphere too. It is cold, cold, cold in London at Christmas.
I don't know what you were watching! Odd...kinda want to know what that was all about! Hmmm...
