I am planning a trip for July 2011 with two couples. We are looking for a week's worth of driving between Berlin and Paris appeasing the manly desire for WW2 sites and the lady's thirst for wine. Any recommendations between 1) Alsace/Colmar; 2)Chablis, Burgandy Wine Region; 3) Reims, Champagne Wine Region? Anything would be appreciated.
In a week you could do all three wine areas (2 days in each) in the order you have listed. May have a few moments to see some battle sites- but i would go for the wine. inetersting, changing scenery. make wine not war
There's not much WWII stuff this side of the border, but plenty of wine... Rhine, Mosel, Nahe, the Deutsche Weinstrasse, the Bergstrasse. I'm most familiar with the towns along the Bergstrasse, and I know there's plenty of wineries you can visit.
