I am searching for a good travel company which moves one's backpack/suitcase ahead to a B&B or inexpensive hotel each day. I would like to go through interesting, charming villages at perhaps 8 miles per day... through Provence or a route which includes Giverny. could be 10 days or 12 days.
I know you probably want personal recommendations, but in case you don't get any, you can locate some tour operators just searching on Google... http://www.bellefrance.co.uk/holidays/walking http://www.traveloffthebeatenpath.com/ http://www.breakaway-adventures.com/region/france/ Of course, then you have to do the research to ensure legitimacy etc...
Pamela - You could try Wayfarers and Country Walkers. I believe both have good reputations.
Hi Pamela The two major British companies that do walking holidays are: http://www.hfholidays.co.uk/ http://www.ramblersholidays.co.uk/ I've used both and typical pricing is in the £700 to £800 for a week. That would include air from London, or you have the option of arriving independently. They offer trips that stay in one hotel for the entire time and point to point trips. Neil
Thank you to the two persons who responded to my request for recommendations. I looked up Wayfarers and Countrywalkers and it looks like they are about $4,500 for six or seven nights (airfare additional, of course). I do not want to spend that much money. I am requesting recommendations from personal experience or secondhand reports. I am inept with languages other than English, though I have tried to learn French and Spanish....thus, my feeling/preconceived idea that I cannot go on my own or with my friend who also does not speak French. Thank you, Pamela
