VW Factory Tour and Museum

Has anyone recently visited Wolfsburg to visit either the VW factory and/or the VW Museum? Any hints? Is it a worthwhile destination? ps - We own or have owned 4 VWs.

Definitely worth the trip, but it's been years since I went there. The museum was included in our tour.

I picked up my Touareg right at the factory in 2004 which included the day's admission to the "theme park", museum etc. I'm what's called the "generation Golf" in Germany which means that I spend my childhood in my Mom's VW Golf, learned how to drive on a Golf and my first car was... guess... my Mom's old Golf (like 80% of my generation. By the way I was born the same year the Golf was). With that kind of affiliation it's well worth a visit. You learn that before 1945 there hasn't been a town called Wolfsburg and in passports of people who were born there before 1945 the place of birth was called "Des Führers Autostadt" (The Führer's car city). But now it's a real theme park with plenty of edutainment and all the original cars. With a coach you can also learn how to drive the extremes with a Touareg SUV. Don't forget to eat the famous VW curry saussage!
