I will be in Germany 2 days. 1 day in Munich and 1 day to visit the Germany Black Forest before going to Switzerland. Is it possible to visit the Black Forest it in one day? If not, what area would you recommend?
Also, we were thinking about taking the train to the Black Forest area but we will be carrying all our luggage. What transportation method would you recommend to visit the Black Forest or part of it in one day?(considering we will have our luggage and we'll be going to Switzerland after visiting Germany?
Munich deserves at least 2 days, more really. Stay in Munich. Visit the Black Forest and the rest of southern Germany when you have more time.
You could do a long day trip though parts of southern Bavaria from Munich. Possibilities by bus include Neuschwannstein, alpine ski resort towns of Garmisch-Partenkirchen or Berchtesgaden, Oberamergau(very pretty Bavarian town). You would have a hour to two hours one way travel time. It partly depends on your specific destination in Switzerland.
You need an entire day (no travel time) to see even a small part of the Black Foret.
Maria, If you're going to the Black Forest because you think it's some great big forest-it's not. If you want to go thru the area to see some cute German towns, by all means do so. The Neuschwanstein/Oberammergau idea is a good one, but it'll be a long day. I'd just spend 2 days in Munich and concentrate on that, as you'll probably be doing "nature" things in Switzerland.

I was just curious what it is, then. I mean, I've seen a lot of forests in my day, and when we were in the Black Forest in May, it seemed like a great big forest to us... trees... as far as the eye could see...
