I have several questions. If you can answer any of them, thank you!
1. Has anyone stayed at la Terrassa in Barcelona on Junta de Comera, 11)? It was a referral on the Hostal el Jardi web site in Rick's guide book. 2. Is there a cheap/fast way(train, plane, bus) to get from Malaga or Sevilla to Toledo? 3. Do you know what the suitcase size dimensions are for carryon when flying on local airlines within Spain? Or, how to find out? 4. What is an economical/fast way to travel from Barcelona to Malaga area?
Trains in Spain are somewhat limited. The bus system is sometimes the better way to to. Looks like you can get a train from Malaga to Seville on raileurope.com for $28. I have found the best way to get from Malaga to Barcelona is Ryan Air. It's about 33 Euros. You will have to check individual airlines for luggage requirements, but basically it's about 40 lbs limit. Don't know exact size requirements, but it would be about a standard large suitcase. Not the really, really big ones.
If you take Ryan Air, however, the carry-on limit is very small and very strict. Ryan is fine if you pay attention to their rules and follow them to the letter. If not, your flight fare can baloon in a hurry. Vueling is another low cost airline that flies around Spain.
I have also used Vueling and thought it was great, am using it again this summer, Ryanair uses some really out of the way airports,, ( for instance, for Paris they use Beauvais..which is almost 100 kms out of Paris and has poor transport options to get into city compared to the two other main airports ) . Its my first time to Spain this summer, and for a europeon country I am surprised to be learning in my research, that the train system is not as good at many other countries,, we are taking a few buses as they are apparently cheaper and run more often too. For your hotel simply read the reviews on tripadvisor.com forums, or just google hotel name and "reviews" and you will find lots to read about.
Most of your questions are answered except 2: From Sevilla to Toledo the easiest and fastest way will be the train. The AVE goes to Atocha Station in Madrid in just over 2 hours. From there you can catch frequent trains to Toledo (about a 1/2 hour trip). There is no direct train route. Check tripadvisor for reviews on the hotel in question #1.
And to make your trip from Sevilla to Toledo as inexpensive as possible, buy your tickets in advance on Renfe. There are substantial discounts for the Sevilla to Madrid portion (Web fare is a 60% reduction.) There is no discount for the Madrid to Toledo portion, but it is nice to buy in advance anyway,
