VisitCordoba/Granada vs. visiting Ronda/Marbella/Malaga/Granada?

With just 3 days in Andalucia, we're starting in Sevilla and thought we'd go to Ronda, see a bit of the coastline, and the on to Malaga and Granada. The other alternative is to skip Ronda/Marbella/Malaga, and heading east to Cordoba, and then visiting Granada. Has anyone been to all of these places, such that you could recommend which itinerary? We want to have time to experience the region so it's not essential that we get to every last historic site. Of course, we'll visit the Alhambra because everything we read and hear says that we'd be crazy not to do so. Thanks for help!

To experience Andalucia in three days is tough...there's just so much to see, and the drive times are fairly long. I'll assume you have three clear days before you leave from Granada. If you really want to see the Costa, then I would suggest a day in Sevilla, the drive thru Ronda to somewhere on the Costa for a night, then onto Granada from the Malaga area. Don't stay in Malaga itself....there are dozens of seaside resorts along the coast from the road down from Ronda (which hits the coast just east of Marbella) to Malaga itself...stop in to a likely one and ask for an overnight stay. PM me if you want a specific suggestion. As well, make sure you book your Alhambra tickets ASAP...they go pretty quickly.

I visited all those spots but Cordoba in October. I would skip Malaga and maybe do a day trip to Ronda or skip it. I would add Nerja. Nerja is a 1.5 hour bus from Granada. It's a beautiful little village on the water. There are several spots along the coast to visit if you have a car. You could also do a day trip to Arcos if you want to see a white town from Seville or go to Cadiz. Hope this helps.

Four years ago we visited both Granada and Cordoba and thoroughly enjoyed both cities. The Mezquita (the Great Mosque) in Cordoba (the oldest sections date from the 8th century) is an incredibly historic site not to be missed. And there are so many other sites in this old, old city that we just didn't have time to visit.

Food for thought.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Sure wish we had a month! We're very much looking forward to getting to as many of these places as possible. Cordoba may need to await another trip, just given its location and the short time we have, but I'm sure we'll get a wonderful taste of Andalucia from Seville, Granada, and then the other places along those routes (possibly Nerja too).

We were in Spain in October. Granada was fabulous and my favorite spot of our entire 3 weeks. We spent two days at the Alhambra and it is one of the most special locations in the world. We did a day trip to Nerja and wished we spent at least a night there on the coast. We were not as impressed with Sevilla, but it is definitely worth visiting. Enjoy your trip!

Michele, thanks so much. This nearly mirrors our trip, with just a short time in Seville, and then a night on the coast (after going through Ronda), and then on to Granada for a couple of days. Did you really enjoy Nerja as we weren't sure we were going to stop there as it's just a little out of the ways in terms of our route, although not too bad if worth it? Thanks, Jeff
