I'm considering Beach houses in these two towns. Both look nice. Villefranche has the edge, but I'm worried about it being a deep water cruise port. Does it get over run with boat people? Anybody have any experience at either spot?
Aren't most of the beaches houses on the other side of the bay, or else not really directly on the beach? Odds are, those nasty boat people have more monty than you do. There's nothing wrong with poor boat people either. There aren't that many poor ones there, you won't see the others. It's not over-run except with people that arrive by land. Sexual orientation might be a factor in selecting Sete.
Ed, I'm curious about your last comment. We've stayed in Sete a couple of times. Is there something about it, or its reputation, that we didn't notice? By the way, I'd highly recommend Sete, although I can't compare it to Villefranche.
My wife and I like it as well, the whole Narbonne - Aigues Mortes stretch, in fact. Some people have a problem with Sete itself. It's just the place to buy a guy's padded speedo. Google 'gay Sete' or something similar.
