Villefranche-Hotel Villa Vauban and car rental

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Villa Vauban in Villefranche? We will be arriving this Sunday and wanted to know if there was a good way to get there from the airport. It says in Rick Steves' book that bus station in Nice is closed on Sunday. A taxi costs about 50 euro, but maybe it is worth it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, we will be renting a car after we leave Villefranche, and we will have to go back to the airport to pick it up. We are renting from Hertz and wanted to know if the car rentals were right at the airport, or are we going to have to take a shuttle.

Thanks Steve for the info. I will definitely check into it. I rented the car from the airport because we will be spending our last night at a hotel near the airport. I just thought that would be easier for returning the car. We thought we would return the car the night before we leave, since we have an early departure the next day. If you still think we should rent from downtown Nice, please let me know. I will have to call Hertz and see if I can rent from the Nice location and return to the airport.

You will love Villefranche! We took bus from airport to Antibes on a Sunday in summer but all local buses routes were closed and taxis are vr on sundays too. good to plan ahead.
