I am looking at train schedules and prices, I'd like to know if I can buy a discounted ticket on OBB to travel from Vienna to Melk and return the same day. I know of the combi tickets that include a boat cruise, train tickets and the Abbey entrance at Melk, but I will not be in Vienna when the boats operate (the last day is 10/26) so I am looking for other ways to get to/from Melk.
Also, is Krems worthwhile?
Any advice will be appreciated.

There are also a couple local (Vienna) posters that handle these questions very well.
If you are traveling with someone, Austrian Rail has a ticket similar to the Bayern-Ticket. It's called Einfach Raus and is an all-day pass for regional trains all over Austria, for 2-5 people for €28.
However, unlike the Bayern-Ticket, which has a single version for one person for less than the up-to-5-people version, the Einfach Raus ticket can only be used by 2-5 people. It cannot be used for just one person.
