Vienna pensions/hotel suggestions

My husband and I will be visiting Vienna the first week of May. Most lodgings I've check are booked. The few that have availability avg. 115 euros for a pension or sm hotel near city center.Does that sound about right? Any suggestions for pensions that are nice but less euros, or am I just dreaming? Thanks!

Susan,
If you have not already tried Pension Nossek, we suggest it. Also, Pension Pertschy. Nothing seems to be at a reasonable price with the dollar so weak. A weak dollar is good for American exporters of goods, but not too nice for the American tourist.
You could find the above pensions web sites at www.Google.com.
Gute Reise! P.

This is really, really late to be looking for a room in May. Not surprising to find most booked.

There are some "less quaint" places that are cheap, or consider staying outside the ring. The metro is great, so if you stay on the periphery or out a bit, just be near the U-Bahn stop.

There are quite a few search engines or guide books to find hotels (Venre, Trip Advisor, Rick Steves books, Lonely Plant, Slow Traveller).

There are dozens of great places to stay in Vienna, but you will need to find one that has availability and that will just take a lot of digging!
