Vienna - need an airport train suggestion

Hi. Going to Austria and will be returning to Vienna for a final night before going to the airport. Won't have a car so we need a hotel convenient to the airport or airport train that is near (walkable) a train station. I would love to stay under $150 but want clean. Thank you in advance.

In the past when I've had a crack of dawn flight, I've occasionally spent the night at the NH Vienna Airport Hotel. Very clean and comfortable and you cannot beat the location ...literally right across the street from airlines check-in. I recommend it for its quality, but mostly because it is so darned convenient. If I recall correctly, I think I paid about €120 a year ago.

Thanks Thomas. I looked at the NH Vienna Airport and it looks perfect except for the price. While their website says prices start at €100, when I pick the night I need in September, the standard room is $440!? I'm going to have to keep looking.

I would suggest the Hotel Kummer on Mariahilfer Strasse. It is directly on top of the Neubaugasse stop on U3, which you can get on to connect to the CAT at Landstrasse/Wien Mitte. I'm staying there next weekend at a price of around $115/night for a single. I stayed there in September 2010 for around the same.

We stayed in the heart of Vienna, took the subway to the stop where it meets up with the airport train, and took that the rest of the way in. So I don't think you're constrained to staying at the airport or train station; you can enjoy an evening in Vienna and leave in the am.

Hey, Tom. Well, I couldn't just leave it at that. So, at lunch I went to the CAT (City Airport Train) station which is adjacent to the U4 and U3 lines ("Landstrasse" stop on the U4). Anyway, I poked around the neighbourhood a bit. Beautiful day for a walk! Found 2 places to stay of possible interest. The first is exactly one short block from the CAT train. It is "Pension Stadtpark Wien" and boasts 3 stars. Their website is: www.pension-stadtpark.at It is a pension not a hotel, so it's perhaps a little quirky. For starters, you have to take the lift up 2 floors to get to the front desk. At 1:30pm I had to buzz to be let in. I asked to see a room. Comfy. Pretty fair size. Clean. Maybe a little on the threadbare side. But the bed was as crisp and clean as any and the bathroom was also clean. I asked him the price of a double. €99 including breakfast! The owner (I'm presuming) said he got a lot of Americans. Anyway, the close location to the CAT train can't be beat, and neither can the price. It's a fun neighbourhood too. In short, I'd stay there for one night. But, for the record, I'm pretty easy to please. The other option was the Hilton, a block on the other side of the CAT. http://www.hilton.de/wien
For a laugh, I asked the price. He said normally €150-€200, but he said today –because something is going on--it's €400. So I guess it shows that nicer hotels use demand-driven pricing these days. You might revisit the NH Airport Hotel again in a couple weeks. Anyway, hope this is useful. Have a good trip.

I can recommend the Airport Boutiquehotel hein http://www.heinhotel.at/en/ Though it is specialized in Park, Sleep & Fly package deals, I'm quite sure they can offer you a "sleep & fly" alternative as well. It is a very clean design hotel at fair prices (under 100 euro/night, breakfast included).
