Vienna Lodging

We are going to be in Vienna June 27 & 28 2008. I am having trouble finding lodgings for our famiily, 7 adults, 1 child and possibly 2 or 3 more adults and 1 child.
Any ideas?

Check out the Mercure Westbahnhof. We stayed there in Nov. and loved it. Very convient - across the street from the West train station (bahnhof).Modern, not too expensive. Great Chinese resturant across the street.

I have stayed twice at Pension Hargita just off of Mariahilferstrasse, about 10 minutes walk from the Westbahnhof train station. Nearby Metro connection, lots of places to eat, bank and shop. No elevators, some rooms 3 flights from the street. Some rooms also European style; i.e. shared bathroom. Nice central European-style breakfast of excellent sausage, cheese, bread and coffee for 5 euros.

I stayed at a hotel called the Hotel Kaffeemuhle in June 2007 for four days. The room was comfortable, inexpensive, breakfasts were good, and centrally located near the Western Bahnhof. The hotel persons even took phone messages for me and relayed them to me quickly. Shops, restaurants nearby.

You're skipping Euro 2008!? Tsk, tsk. Your loss, I guess.

I plan on staying at Pension Suzanne, which is a bit pricey, but I might switch to Pension Wild which looks good and is much cheaper.

This past September we stayed at the Pension Neuer Markt right in the heart of the city, near the cathedral. Reserve early, however, as Rick Steves' groups are now staying there too. Check venere.com or its website for info. Very nice, very friendly and reasonable for location.
