Looking for a nice *** (3 star) pension/hotel in city center. Found www.pension-nossek.at on Graben & www.zurwienerstaatsoper.at off Karntnerstrasse. Is anyone familiar with them, and which is better location? Any/all suggestions are welcome! Danke-
Patsy
Have you checked in the RS Vienna Guide Book yet? We found a nice place there when we went to Vienna some years ago.
Have seen the Pension Nossek recommended before on another travel website although I haven't stayed at either of the hotels you mention. But, both are well located and are actually very close to each other so you will be right in the middle of Old Town Vienna.
Hi, I don't stay in the city center when I am visiting Vienna. But, I can tell you that the Kärntnerstrasse area is very nice, full of shops, touristy and non-touristy, restaurants, good for strolling, etc. You are right in the city center with Kärntnerstraße.
Nothing comes close to Pension Sacher for price and location.
We stayed at the Best Western Kaiserhof, about a 3 minute walk from the opera house. Wonderful hotel. Great breakfast including champagne.
I can recommend Pension Suzanne, right in the center about a half block from the opera house: http://www.pension-suzanne.at/english/index_2.htm It's three star as I recall...very nice but still reasonable. The building façade looks like Communist party HQ...just ignore that and head up the stairs inside to a really comfortable stay. It's been a few years, but I see it's still highly rated on tripadvisor.
