What the best way to get to the cruise ship docks. I am sure we can go there by taxi, but i was thinking there might be a tram or train or something

The Danube stretches quite a long way through Vienna and there can be a couple of places that the ship may dock (based on size) but I will presume that you are talking about the main dock near the Vorgartenstrasse U-bahn (subway) station.
Also, you did not mention a starting point for how to get there, so I will presume you are talking about getting there from downtown. If that is the case, you can take subway line U1, direction Leopoldau, from Karlsplatz or Stephansplatz.
There may be tram options, but it would depend where you are starting from as there is nothing quite as convenient as the U-bahn from the very center of town.
