Vienna Card - One day worth it?

We will be arriving by overnight train to Vienna in the morning and leaving that night. We will only be there for one day. I would like to know if it would be worth it buying the Vienna card or just paying for the sights individually along with a one day pass travel ticket. here is where we are going: hoffburg palace hoffburg treasury stephansdom
tour the staatsoper Unfortuantly we will be there on a Monday, so the Kunsthistorisches museum will be closed.

I haven't used the Vienna Card (there wasn't such a thing when I was there last), so I can't advise on that. Think about how many tours you can fit into one day, though, at places that aren't necessarily close together. Factor in time for lunch, getting lost, stopping into a shop, taking pictures, etc. You might find that what looks like a good deal on paper isn't really practical to do. I know that's true in Chicago. They have a similar card that you can buy for a single day. When you add up the various entry fees, it's an outstanding deal. But when you realize that you can't physically get to and enjoy all of those places in a day, it becomes less so.
