We will be in Vienna for New years and I am not sure whether to make plans or just walk the streets. I understand that it is a lot of fun just being out and about, with music and fireworks. I am not sure whether to make dinner reservations, I am sure nice places are booking quickly. Anybody have ideas?
I need help
Lori: You probably already know this: If you decide to walk the streets, dress warmly: late Dec/early Jan. temperatures in Vienna average 30 to 35 degrees during the day and mid to high 20's at night. You may want to try and book something indoors, so that you can warm up.
Lori, do make dinner reservations. It'll be all booked out otherwise. And make sure you're outside the town hall from around 11.30pm as this is where the public waltz dancing in the streets takes place at midnight. You'll be dancing the blue danube waltz underneath a sky filled with fireworks and if you're lucky it'll be snowing. Vienna (and actually all of Austria) to me is the world's most romantic location to be at for New Year's eve!!
