Very confused about which tickets to go for (Italy and France)

My younger sister and I (we're both under 25) are taking a trip with the following itinerary:
Rome (three days)
Florence (three days)
Nice (two days--overnight to Paris)
Paris (four days)
Bayeaux (two days; train to paris--overnight train to Cinque Terre)
Cinque Terre (two days)
Cinque--Terre--Venice--Rome (one day)

I've been going through what seems like a hundred websites trying to figure out if we should get eurorail or do point to point. Point to Point is difficult because I don't know the name of every station and the websites require that.

If we end up getting a Eurorail, two-country ticket, I don't know how many days to figure out either. I think we'll need 6 or 7.

I'm "this close" to taking the trip consultation and dishing out the $75 for Rick Steves, but I'd rather avoid any extra costs where we can.

Any tips?

THANKS!

Have you considered flying into Rome, seeing Italy first and flying back out of Paris after seeing Nice and Bayeaux? This would avoid backtracking and would reduce the distance traveled by train substantially. Just a thought.

Just keep in mind that in all probability that the $75 could save you more than $75 especially if it prevents you from making a wrong and expensive decision.

Thanks for the help thus far.

I'll definitely check out those websites.

For the second comment, I wish I would've thought of that before we purchased our tickets. We found a great deal on flights and it was to and from Rome.

Any more thoughts people might add would still be very helpful!

Thanks again.
