I am going to Paris in October from Saturday morning till Tuesday. I am trying to figure out which day would be the best day to take a day trip out to Versailles. I am flying to Prague on Tuesday and can either take a 4:40pm or a 8:10pm flight. Should i go to Versailles on Sunday and take the earlier flight on Tueday or go to Versailles on Tuesday and take the later flight out to Prague?

In May to Sept both Sundays and Tuesdays can be a zoo (Tues, I guess, because it's closed Mondays). But you're going in October so the crowds won't be so intense as May - Sept. If they're still doing the fountain thing when you're there, then the last time I was there they only had the fountains turned on for Saturday and Sunday and that would be a reason to go Sunday.

According to the guide on the Versailles Web site, the last fountain display will be 25 October.

Whatever day you go, get there when it opens. We actually got there about 45 later than that in April, and didn't have to wait long at all, maybe 15 minutes, but when we came out after buying our tickets the line was probably an hour long.
