Versailles fountain display

I will be in Paris around the weekend of June 6-7. I have been to Versailles twice, but never during the Grandes Eaux. Is it better to go on Saturday or Sunday? Is there an entrance fee ONLY for the grounds/fountains?

I am planning to buy the Paris Museum Pass. I read on the helpline that the pass doesn't include the fountains, only the palace and Trianon. I don't understand how it is possible to gain entry to these buildings without going past the fountains. Can someone explain, please.

I can't speak to the Pass, but I can say that the fountains are beautiful when they are spraying. We've been to Versailles 3 times and the first 2 times were without fountains. We just happened to go on the right day on the 3rd trip and the fountains were going. It really does add to beauty and festivity of the gardens.

The gardens are behind the palace building - blocked from both the palace building and the trianon building by a fence. You will have to pay the separate entry fee to get into the gardens when the fountains are running. However, you can enjoy the grounds around the canals for free.
