Is the WWI battlefield in Verdun worth a special trip while on vacation in France?

I found Verdun very moving. Whether it is worth it to you depends perhaps on how interested you are in WWI history.

My wife and thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Verdun. The memorial museum is well laid out, Ft. Douament (sp?) was fascinating to tour at your own leisure, and the Ossuary was very moving, as was the memorial site of the former village of Fleury. You will not be disappointed (unless you don't care for battlefields). Rick Trice

Yeah, I think I would enjoy it because I am a history buff. I just haven't been able to find any info in guidebooks about it, so I was wondering.

We were in Reims and decided to head over for 1/2 day and wished we'd gone earlier in the day and spent the whole day there. Definitely worth the time if you're not too far away. We did a self-guided tour using the Rick Steve's France book and info we picked up at the TI.
