Arrive in Venice on a Saturday then will make our way down to Rome fly out on the following Sunday.Any tips on where to go, how to travel and what to see.Would like to travel in Camper van but having difficulty finding any company that allows for collection and drop offs on weekends.( Travelling with teenagers).
Could you rent a campervan from Monday to Friday? Pick it up in Mestre maybe, after you have visited Venice, and drop it off outside Rome somewhere. Then stay in Rome until your flight.
Thanks.
Tracey....gotta say that this is alot of driving. In myopinion, for this short of a visit you're better off taking the train. Cheaper and a lot less hassle.
Your intinerary could be something like 3 days (including arrival day) in Venice, train to Florence (2.5 hrs) 3days in Florence (perhaps including day trips to Pisa/Sienna etc)..then train to Rome for the remainder.
Trains are fast. Cheap if you book well in advance. Downtown to Downtown. No worries about parking, directions, and the nightmare that is driving in the center of a European city.
my 2 Euros.....
