RS suggests leasing a vehicle might be better and less expensive than renting, if travelling for 3 weeks or more. Has anybody had any pro/con experience with leasing? We are travelling in October and plan to p/u in Caen and dropoff in Marseille.

I have done both. The pros of leasing are that the cost is all inclusive. There are no extra charges for insurance, etc. and you receive a brand new car. On the other hand, it might cost less to rent. With renting, extra costs such as insurance and additional taxes can be incurred, so be aware of those. I would suggest comparing the cost of both and then decide what works for you. I have leased and rented through Auto Europe.

We've done both with auto Europe and Renault. Pro for leasing is everything is included. Example, we had to have the windshield replaced last year and never saw a bill. No hassle. But since you own the leased car, you are out of luck if you have an accident which puts your car out of commission while it's being repaired. With a rental, you are furnished with a replacement.
