Has anyone traveled the Seine with this boat company. I've seen others mentioned but am wondering if this is a good option. Thanks.
I think they offer a 2 euro discount if your print the coupon off their website. Did you check out the website?
I personally hated the Bateau Mouches that we took , they were all closed in glass so were hot and stuffy, we later took a bike tour that included a night cruise and I liked that boat, can't remember name , but boats were large, open, and dock was near ET on opposite bank.
We liked this company the best.
We used this one twice last November. One time during the day to really see everything and then again at night to see the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, etc. illuminated. Fabulous!
I also printed out the coupons from their website to get the 2 Euro discount. It is glass enclosed, however I was able to go to the front of the boat, as well as on top of the enclosure, to take pictures.
The tour guides go through their information rather quickly but it didn't really bother me. There are a good number of times slots to choose from and since I was not looking for a dinner cruise, overall I thought it was a good bargain, esp with the coupon.
I hope this helps.
Cecily, I took their evening cruise last September and really liked it. The narration was very fast but I've been to Paris before and was just interested in seeing the various monuments at night. I timed it so we saw the Eiffel Tower as it began to twinkle at 9 pm. It's best to arrive early for your tour since lines are long. And do print out that 2e coupon on the Website. I agree with the above comment - I really didn't like the Bateaux Mouche - way too crowded, full of tour-bus groups. I also like the Maxim's daytime non-food Seine boat tour for their narration (they dock across the street from the Eiffel Tower). Another option is the Batobus, which is a hop-on/hop-off tour, and good for getting around from monument to monument. Whatever cruise you take, go up to the top deck rather than stay below in the enclosed area - the views are much better. Bon chance!
Another vote for this boat tour. We enjoyed the trip after dark. Be sure to use the coupons. You may also enjoy the chance to linger on Pont Neuf after the tour. If it is a clear evening you can get some nice photos from the bridge. From here it is just a short walk to plaza in front of Notre Dame which is also a fun visit after dark.
Thank you for all of the responses.
I have one more question. I notice that everyone has recommended printing out the 2 euro discount. However, if I see that if I pre-buy the tickets online, they are discounted 4 euro. Is there a reason a shouldn't go ahead and buy these online?
Thanks.
We used them last month and had a good experience. The narration was fast and a bit cursory (e.g. "There is Place de la Concorde, where Marie Antoinette was beheaded.") but we were more interested in the ride than the narration.
The risks of pre-payment are just that you may want to change your plans or perhaps you may have some weather concerns at the time of your visit.
Be advised also that if you use most credit cards to make a pre-payment, when the eruo amount is converted to dollars you will find a 3% fee added. We get (partially) around this by using a ATM card to withdraw euros as needed or by using certain American Express credit cards. Either of these options results in a 1% fee added.
We just returned from Paris within the last week. I purchased tickets online with this boat company prior to our Paris trip. It worked fine, since you're not locked into a time or day. There is a separate window for pre-paid tickets, so before standing in line, go up to the front to look at the windows.
