My husband went last summer for a work function and thought it was really neat. We actually purchased a chateau membership in the winter and have gone many times, just not for a candlelight evening (yet - going in three weekends, though.). Don't know about the quality of the food offered. My husband's work thing was a private dinner, and he said the food was "ok".

We went for the candlelight evening last summer but they didn't have the restaurant at that time. We loved it - wandered around for hours as the sun went down, then around the inside of the chateau until almost midnight. Another really fun thing we did the same day was Velo-Rail at La Ferte-Gaucher. It's an abandoned rail line with pedal cars. You ride out for about 45 minutes through protected park land, get off and have a picnic (bring your own - some people's were very elaborate, with portable espresso makers etc), then ride back. It's very popular in France and we had the best time. My teenagers consistently list it in the top 5 of activities we did last summer (over seven weeks in Europe!). It's an easy drive between the two. Public transit is a challenge to both sites, possible but cumbersome and you have to go through Paris to get to either one.
