My daughter and I are meeting up with my son in Baden Baden after his study abroad program in Germany. We will be handing him his Swiss Rail pass then and heading down to Luzern to begin the second leg of the trip in SW. Does he need to validate his pass when he arrives in Luzern or does the train attendant do it for him?
German Rail charges 50 euros to validate a rail pass aboard a train (no charge at a station), if you want to use the Swiss Pass for the portion of the journey that goes through Switzerland, then validate it at the station in Germany, and purchase your ticket to the Swiss Border at the same time.
My son will already have his Eurail pass for Germany so can I assume now that all I have to do is to validate the Swiss pass at the Baden Baden train station before we get on the train?
