We are traveling into Switzerland by train from Milan. How do we validate our card?
e-mail communication from myswissalps.com said they don't know if we can validate in an Italian station. They also said that we could self-validate the SwissCard with instructions included with our Card however we found no such instructions, in fact found information in other places that said do not self-validate. Therein lies our confusion. We have already purchased our discounted train ticket from Milan to Interlaken and were hoping to validate the Card in Monterosso or Milan. This would be preferable to having to pay a conductor. I decided to go to the experts at RickSteves.
"myswissalps" is not an official website. I'd go right to the source--SBB at www.rail.ch Use the "contact" button at the top and the inquiry form will pop up.
They are very attentive about answering questions.
And if the answer is that you can have the conductor validate it on the train, I'd print that answer out and carry it with me. . . just in case.
Yes, we do need the Swiss Card to qualify for the ticket we got.... so .... I validate in Milan.
Thanks everyone!
