My boyfriend and I are looking for a romantic place to spend Valentines Day weekend. We're temporarily living in Madrid, so are looking for a destination 3-5 hours away by train or bus.
Right now, we're thinking Salamanca or San Sebastien. Any recommendations?

What about Seville or Barcelona? I really liked visiting Salamanca but it's not necessarily a romantic destination and the beach at San Sebastian would be lovely but cold in February.
It's too far for a week-end trip but Santiago de Compostela is one of my favorite cities in Spain and the Hotel Residencia Costa Vella would be a romantic place to stay.
I would pick San Sebastien, especally if you like food! Walking along the beach boardwalk is a nice couples thing to do and you can take the funicular to Monte Igueldo for greatg city views. You can also take a easy day trip from San Sebastien to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim Museum. You can see pictures and details in a spreedsheet at our personal site at:
