I will be in Valencia for a wedding the first week of Aug and then want to do some traveling, I have approx 12 days to work with and I do not want to stay in once place for more then two days. Not sure where to go although I would like to end up in Porto Portugal. I would be flying in and out of Madrid. I have heard that travel in Spain during Aug is not really the best time to go as it is peak holiday season for most europeans. Any advice would be appreciated.

Keep in mind a few things. Valencia is pretty remote within Spain. But certainly I'd hit Sevilla, Granada and maybe the hill towns. Madrid and Toledo are musts. Also, Portugal is not easily accessible from Spain. There is only one overnight train from Madird-Lisbon and Porto is another 3-4 hours north of Lisbon. Will you be driving, trains or consider some flights?
