My husband and I are taking our college grad to Valencia for 6 days and Barcelona for 3 days at the end of July. What are the "must see & do"?
How about a switch??... 3days in Valencia and 6days in Barcelona? Valencia is quite compact and you can probably see it all in 2-3 days. I would spend more time in Barcelona. Valencia has Playa beach, the Marina where The America's Cup was held, La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (my fav), Open Street Market (weekly Sunday? if I recall), La Catedral, El Miguelete and Plaza de la Virgen, Plaza del Mercado.
Barcelona also has a beach, marina, Sagrada Familia catedral, La Rambla, La Pedrera, Spanish Village, Barcelona FC Museum, The Magic Fountain of Montjuic and tons more.
Aileen, when we flew to Barcelona, an ex-Patriot from Britain suggested taking the hop on / hop off bus. We were glad we did because the bus route were to the attractions we wanted to go anyways. We did the 2 days HOHO pass, and I believe it was 26 euros (don't quote me on that though). The bus ride gave us an idea of the city, and we also got great birds eye pictures of the landmarks.
I've never been to Valencia, but 3 days will barely scratch the surface to Barcelona. I'd try to balance it with 5 days/ 4 days if you can.
Have a great trip!!
