Vacations in Paris based out of New Jersey; any experiences?

I can't rent my regular apartment in Paris during our next trip because we won't be there for a week and that is a minimum. I found an apartment that is not far from the one where we stay but aside from one comment from 2010 on the Graffiti wall, I haven't heard anything else, pro or con about this company. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Lois from San Diego, CA

We had a good experience with Vacation in Paris last summer. Outstanding service, easy to deal with, everything was as descrbed. I highly recommend this company.

We used them a few years ago and have recommended them ever since. And I have seen many positive comments about the company here.

We rented from VIP last year, and had a very good experience. Great communication, clear and concise contract, no surprises except good ones! No huge deposit, no cleaning fees. You pay in US dollars, and can use a credit card. Having the keys to your apartment before you leave home is just wonderful, much less hassle than meeting a "greeter". They do have several apartments that can be rented for less than a week. We are renting with them again this year, same apartment for 10 days. We only wish they had apartments in Italy! I would certainly give them an A+!

Lois, I also recommend VIP. Our family has used them in 2009 and they were a pleasure to deal with.

I've used them twice. In October 2009, I rented #115 and last month I rented #201. Both experiences went smoothly and I recommend this company, particularly for a short stay. Both times paid in U.S. dollars via credit card and keys were shipped in advance. If you search on tripadvisor, you will find tons of comments on them (sometimes referred to as "VIP"), many positive.

We used VIP last summer to rent an apartment in the 6th. They were very easy to work with and I would highly recommend them.

I rented from them in October 2010. The staff was very professional and provided a lot of great information in the packet of materials that they forwarded with the apartment key. I really enjoyed the apartment that I rented. When I alerted the staff in Paris about a problem with the elevators in my building, they were very responsive and made sure that it was resolved quickly. In fact, they even gave me a refund for the brief inconvenience I experienced. I hope to use them again if I return this fall.

Loved VIP! Just finished 3 weeks in Paris, in their apartment overlooking Pere Lachaise cemetary - beautiful, homey, and even though it's a little out of the city, it was a great neighborhood, completely free of tourists. The company was great to deal with in general - totally recommend them.

My wife and I just got back from a week in Paris where we rented one of their apartments near the Louvre. As everyone else has said, the company was very easy to deal with. The apartment was definitely a bargain (although the church across the street is being renovated, which was kind of a disappointment.) --Steve

Lois - just to add one more VERY positive comment re: ViP. I've used them twice before and have my third apartment rented for this coming Sept. They're so easy to deal with, respond quickly to email questions (and I always have LOTS of questions!), apartments are exactly as pictured/described, etc. They even went beyond the call of duty for my first rental. I'm a very visual person and the apt. I wanted didn't show a floor plan. They sketched one and FAXd it to me! I've rented 56 (1 bedroom in the 7th), 158 (2 bedroom in the 8th with GREAT views of the Eiffel Tower), and have rented 104 in the 10th for this upcoming trip. You'll be glad you used them!

Agree with all the comments on VIP. The real advantage is you pay in USD rather than euros. The staff at VIP is familiar with all the apts and will steer you to the right one. Many are owned by Americans.

I just rented #29, for 5 nights, a few weeks ago. The company has great customer service and the apartment was exactly like it was described.

I want to thank each and every one of you for your comments and advice. I booked our apartment two days ago (#100 in the 5th). The only disappointing thing is that we are staying in Paris at the beginning of our trip so I'd either have to send the keys back through the foreign mail (have lost things doing that) or meet with someone when we get there. It shouldn't be a problem but I was wondering if any of you have had to meet someone for your apartment. If so, how is that handled?
Thanks again folks. You and the Rick Steves website are great!

Lois, We also stayed in Paris our first week in France. I didn't mail the keys back until a few days after we got home, which was a week and a half or so after we left Paris. ViP was fine with that and returned my deposit promptly.

Lois, just talk to VIP about your travel schedule and the date that you'll be returning home. They will have no problem with you sending the keys back after you get back. We had the exact same situation and they were fine with it.

My dealings with Vacations in Paris went fairly well except there were two folks telling me two different things about the apartment keys. Being that it was the first part of our European trip, and I didn't want to send the keys back from Europe to New Jersey, our trip continued for over two weeks after our stay. One person said that we would be met at the apartment and the other said that we could send the keys when we returned home. The first person was correct. I liked the payments being handled in the U.S.; not really crazy about hoarding large amounts of cash while on vacation. We had a few complaints about the apartment but that is because we believe everything in the description. Some things just didn't work they way they should have. Knowing that now, and considering the price and location of the apartment, I would stay there again but not depend on the TV, phone, internet connection, or washing machine. If they work in the future I will consider it a pleasant surprise.

Vacations in Paris are enjoyable each time for me. There are many facilities and services available in this country. Accommodation, food and anything which you want is outstanding there. I will prefer you to go to Paris for vacations. ______________________ waldorf astoria orlando hotel address

Stayed in their 1 bedroom on the Rue du Bac last time, it was great (though not for those afraid of stairs or out of shape!) and next month I'm staying in their 1 bedroom near The Sorbonne. They've been super easy to deal with for both bookings.

Another positive vote! I've used them 3X in various Paris Arr. They are very responsive and helpful. Not using them this upcoming trip only because I'm staying several months and they don't rent for that long. Enjoy!
