We plan on using one of our eurail passes (we bought the car/rail pass) to get to Bayeux in 2 weeks. Is there any way we can use it directly from cdg? We wouldn't mind taking an indirect route but are trying not to drag our suitcases through a lot of train stations. thanx
Sorry, you cannot use your railpasses all the way. The passes will be good on the RER B from CDG to Paris, but only as far as Gare du Nord. (That section of the line is operated by SNCF, French national rail.) From there you'll need to get to Gare St-Lazare to catch a train to Bayeux.
You will need to walk through the connecting tunnels from the RER station at Gare du Nord to the Magenta RER station. For 1.60 EUR you can take the RER A from Magenta to the Haussmann-St-Lazare RER station and then walk to Gare St-Lazare.
To minimize dragging your luggage, use your railpasses to get to Gare du Nord. Take a taxi from there directly to Gare St-Lazare. It's a short ride and shouldn't cost more than 10 EUR. Then use your railpasses to get from Gare St-Lazare to Bayeux.
