Looking for a unique place to stay in Barcelona. 2 nights. Any suggestions? We'd like a good location, but willing to compromise location A LITTLE for the right place.

Amee - Adynata has a great suggestion for you - I've also stayed there and it is very close to many things. At the bottom of La Rambla , the old port is wonderful - also has the Aquarium and a big shopping mall. Then up La Rambla with all the street performers, artists, cafes, bands playing, tons of people BUT Incredible. Truly one of Europe's most amazing cities. Be sure to hop on an open air bus at the port and spend three hours seeing the major sites - Gaudi's Unbelievable architecture, Montjuic, and all the other fascinating sights if Barcelona. The neat thing is that you can jump off the bus and pick up another after seeing whatever you want to.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Jardi last May and loved it. The location was wonderful, right in the Gothic Quarter, and only a block or two from Las Ramblas. The rooms were not what you would consider luxurious (though comfortable enough), but considering the price was really good, and we had a lovely little balcony overlooking a very atmospheric square and church, it was worth sacrificing a bit of comfort for more character.
