Hi there fellow travelers. In August 2010, my family and I (2 50-somethings, 2 70-somethings and 2 teenage girls) are going to Germany for two weeks to visit my son in the USAF. He and his wife work at the AFB in Spangdahlem and live in Naurath. We are hoping to settle in Naurath and do one- and two-day trips here and there. This is the Trier-Saarburg area of Germany. As I research, I am finding an overwhelming number of things to do and places to visit. If you have experience in this area please send suggestions on how to narrow the list and of your idea of what the "must-sees" are. I appreciate your guidance.
Trier is close to Mosel Valley. A beautiful tranquil wine region with incredible Burg Eltz castle. A car is a must here. I love Beilstein a fairy tale village or Cochem much larger but a nice city on the river. enjoy
I lived in that area for 3 years; left in 05. It'll take me a couple days, but I can put a list together of places we liked, visited, know about in the region. If you'd like the info send me a private message (click below my name) and I'll reply back in a couple days.
