Two weeks in Europe starting next week

My husband and I are planning a two week trip to Europe starting Sep 19th We will be traveling to Nice, Bern, Munich, Salzburg and back to Nice. We were thinking of getting a Eurail pass considering that we have five travel days with many connections in between. In reading the forums here , it seems like making point to point reservations may be cheaper. I looked at the Compare traincosts map at this website and it still looks like the Rail pass may be cheaper for the two of us. I just wanted to get some input from some of you folks out there that may have done a similar itinerary before. Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

Maya,

One thing to remember about Railpasses, is that these DON'T include reservations on trains where these are compulsory (usually the "fast" trains such as the TGV). You'll have to pay separately for the reservations.

When buying P-P tickets, reservations are included in the cost.

Cheers!

During my trip last October (Hamburg, Hannover, Koblenz, Lindau, Venice, Munich), I had a railpass and three of the trains required reservations, which cost an additional 5 Euro each. I, too, considered point to point tickets, but then decided the convenience of the railpass outweighed any small savings.
