We were staying in the 5th arrondisment (Latin Quarter) and walked to Au Jardin 15 rue, Git le Coeur. Versy small but excellent food.

Try Leo le Lion, a block off Rue Cler. It has become a family favorite for us and will run ~ 50-60 Euros per person with wine, for a 3 course meal.

If it is open, La Varangue in the 7th. One of Rick's best ever picks! Set menu is less than you'll pay in a US diner, and a LOT better.

We loved Le Trumilou, right across the street from the Seine near Notre Dame. Very, very good quality food, and 6 of us ate 3-course meals for a total of 125 euros (not counting drinks).

We went to Le Coupe-Chou (www.lecoupechou.com) in the Latin Quarter, very small, intimate dining experience. I reserved ahead online and we had the dinner menu - starter, main course, dessert - for 32 Euro each, plus a bottle of wine. Everything was excellent.

Bill, for the quick-delicious splurge consider CREPERIE COUSIN / COUSINE located at 36 rue Mouffetard (5th Arrond.) It's a "Crêpes To Go" stop. Nobody should miss having great crêpes in Paris. bon voyage ! P.

We had dinner at La Fontain de Mars on rue St. Dominique in 7th and the food was excellent. It was recommended by the owner of the apartment we stayed in and apparently also by Travel & Leisure. You will need a reservation but you can pop in while checking out the neighborhood. They also speak English or at least the people we had contact with did.

Tire-Bouchon, just off Place du Moufftard in the 5th. Great price-fixe menu, very French, not very crowded.

Les Bookinistes (on Quai des grandes augustins about a five to ten minute walk from Notre Dame, review at http://cntraveller.co.uk/Special_Features/Paris_Bistros/Les_Bookinistes/) is Guy Savoy's bistro restuarant. You get very very high quality food for a lot less (although still 30-50 euros a person) than his big places. Last time I was there, last month, I had a succulent duck dish with cooked vegetables that had some sort of foam on them. Needless to say, they were the best cooked veggies I've ever had.
