Hi, I'd like to spend two days in Zurich before taking the train to Basel in Oct. What is the best way to spend my time in Zurich and where is a good area to stay in? This is my first time in EU. Thanks a lot!

Steer clear of Zurich, you're better off spending that time in the Alps. Especially the Berner Oberland: Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, Murren. From Interlaken you're only two hours away from Basel via direct trains.
