Turning in a Hertz rental car in Calais

The Hertz rental car return in Calais is within walking distance of the EuroTunnel not the EuroStar which is 7km away. Oh, and you give your Hertz rental car key to the guy at the Avis desk downstairs or just slip it in the mail slot. Abandon your car anywhere in the parking lot...they will (and did) locate it. Has anyone else experienced this?
