Trip in Western Europe. Where to go?

I am in school in Paris and we have a week off for spring break and I would like to plan a trip. Any suggestions would be great. I was thinking about doing Vienna, Budapest, and/or Prague. Does anyone have anything/have visited these places. Is there anywhere you would suggest I just have to go see. I think I will definitely go to Switzerland at some other point, but any suggestions would be great thanks!

If you have a week off school, I'm assuming it means 2 weekends? So 9 days, less 2 for travel would be 7?

You could do 2 cities then if you wanted, but I agree with not trying to fit in too much.

If you're interested in beautiful architecture, Prague will certainly fit, although from what I hear the other two will as well. I was there on business, but I did manage to get some fun in and I found even just walking around was great, as the city is beautiful.

You should do some reading on all three cities and decide which most interests you.

Hi Blair,

What interests you? There are wonderful things to do/see all across Europe, but they likely won't all interest you.

I've only been to Prague of your list and I thought it was beautiful.

Well I love old cities with beautiful architecture. Beautiful scenery, or countryside...nature. I probably don't want a city that just has tons of museums, although I know they all do, but I would like other cultural options. I don't know if this helps! I am 21 so any sort of adventure is fun.

I have spent several days in each of the 3 cities you list and I suggest you read about each one and then decide which one to see. Based on your interests; not on another traveler's.

Don't try to see more than one and I suggest it be Prague, Vienna second and Budapest last. You will need a day of travel each way from Paris. So that leaves only 5 days of your week for sight-seeing.

For a 21 year old, I would suggest Berlin. My daughter is 18 and loves it there. Cannot wait to go back and is actually thinking about going to university there. There is so much to see and do there that spending a week there would be perfect. Easy side trips too. You can go to Potsdam and see the Sans Soucci palace and the fabulous grounds there. The city of Potsdam itself is quite pretty and is a place I would like to go and spend a couple of days on its own. Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp is also nearby if that would interest you.

Another kind of cool place that I have heard a lot of friends praise, is Riga. Really nice architecture, cheaper prices, great shopping and a little bit off the beaten tourist path. Ryan Air flies there too, which makes it cheaper to get to.
