Is it an easy day trip from Baden-Baden to Colmar, France? Is it an easy train connection? Cheapest and fastest way to go? Any thoughts on if it worth the venture or not?

It's an easy day trip but I would definitely prefer a rental car as there are so many little villages to stop and see, experience. I don't know if you're into cars but at Sixt you can get the brand new white Audi TT for just €99/day incl. insurances etc. You'd p/u and return the car in Germany anyway, right?
