Hello everyone....question for you regarding Tricare insurance and traveling in Paris this summer. My husband is retired Navy and we have Tricare Prime - the military's version of an HMO...does anyone know how it works in Paris if we need medical attention? I have been to Tricare's website but have been unsuccessful in finding any useful information-I seem to get routed and re-routed to various pages with no real information. Any information from the experts here would be greatly appreciated...thanks, Cici
Is it possible to call Tricare?
James: Thank you for the google - I have seen this before; however, I am still concerned for two reasons: 1. it is dated 2006 and 2. the document tells me to either go to the nearest MTF (there is none in France) or contact International SOS...which would seem like it would apply since there is no MTF, right? However, in reading further, contacting International SOS is only an option for ACTIVE duty and not retired. For retired folks like us, it says to contact the US Embassy....I am not sure how helpful contacting the US Embassy would be in a case this like...especially if we need medical attention outside normal business hours. Susan: Yes, it appears a phone call to Tricare might be the best option...sigh. I try to avoid them as every time I call I get a different answer depending on who I speak with but it may be the best thing I have going at this point. Thanks! CiCi
Thanks James for the information. The only information I found the last time I had the courage to go foraging thru the Tricare website was the document you had in your first reply dated 2006....the second and third links were awesome and much more recent...and seem to contradict the one from 2006 where it indicated the International SOS was only for Active duty....thanks again...I really appreciate it! Cici ps...read Obama's plan in an earlier article ...if that were the only change, we would be fine with it, but alas, we fear it is just the beginning....
